Throughout the novel Alexie uses a lot of humor. i see his humor and see that he is trying to cover up pain. he was bullied a lot throughout his life from people of all size and age. he never got a break until he got motivated to change schools. changing school was a giant risk for him since he was changing to an all white school. but since he changed schools he was able to fidn love, not only from his girlfriend Penelope, but from the whole school.
