my reflection

i never thought that i would have a blog. Ever. i dont really like to post things online. only pictures really on facebook but that is a rare occasion. i wasn't sure what to expect when it came to writing blogs, but it actually was a pretty cool experience. i probably will not continue writing blogs because i would honestly forget that i have an account. overall having this blog as part of an english assignment was a good experience for me and was fun reading what other people have to say about the topics we had for class.

Media

is it good? or is it bad? i think that it is actually both. it can be a good thing and a bad thing. media can be a learning tool to young children, such as letting them play with an ipad or a tablet. for an example, my parents bought my 2 year old brother a tablet and filled it with music and learning applications and he has learned to use them all! it surprised me to see how fast he had learned to use the tablet. He is learning spanish from it and has learned how to count by playing on his tablet. the only bad thing about it is that he doesn't want to share his tablet with others.

5 photo essay: definition of success

 this picture makes me laugh every time that i see it because this day is one of the most memorable and funniest days I've had in Highschool. It was a day that we were to dress up as our rival school and be nerds. Seeing everyone dress as Nerds made me laugh and happy to see so much school spirit. Also because this was my last year in Highschool. My graduation year was one of the best years i had in my life.

  Now this weirdo next to me in the picture is my brother. Sometimes we dont get along and end up fighting with each other. But other times we find each other joking with each other. He honestly makes me laugh a lot with his weirdness. I'm glad that my parents brought him into this world because he is special to em and i dont know what i would do with out him.

when we took this picture, it was right before we walked to get our diplomas. man were we exited to get out of the gym already. all i kept thinking was that i was going to be one od the first in my family to receive a Highschool diploma. I was successful and making my parents proud. on this day I couldn't have been any happier.

People are what make me happy, with out all of the people who have entered my life i wouldn't have all of these fond memories to share and laugh about.






I could seriously do anything with my boyfriend and have a blast. even free falling 110ft in the air and swinging back and fourth like a swing! Material things are not the things that make me happy, although there are nice to have. but i don't necessarily need all of it because its just the little moments I have with people that make me happy. looking back at all of the pictures is sifted through made me realize that i am successful. Happiness to me is being successful.

Defining Happiness

This semester we read Into the Wild and discussed how Chris had separated himself from the world, from society. He did this to find happiness within himself, but on the way to find happiness he struggles a lot to stay a live. During his adventure he learns that happiness is better when it it shared with someone else. I agree that happiness is always better when you share it, because it is about interaction with another human. I do believe that money isn't everything, but money is still a good thing to thing to have to live a certain live style. I dont believe that you have to be filthy rich to be happy, because there are people who are very wealthy, and can be  not happy. i believe that you just need enough money to get by to be happy. so one does not struggle and become stressed or sad. Being happy is sharing those moments with others, and creating some really memorable memories that you will keep forever.

Brave Review

I recently had watched this movie called Brave, by Marc Andrews and Brenda Chapman. I was not sure what to expect when I rented the movie. The movie is about a fantasy adventure with the main character named Merida. Who is a princess in Scotland. She likes to be free and not told what to do. but when her mother tells her to do something life changing, Merida does not comply and gets upset and leaves as fast as she can. she finds herself cursing her family, and has to fix it. i thought this movie was such a good movie, and it was well animated. it was funny as well as touching. i recommend this movie  to anyone.

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows review

Harry Potter and the deathly hallows, by J.K Rowling was a really great book. It is the last of the Harry Potter novels she has written. i really enjoyed reading this book even tho it is 759 pages. As soon as i started reading it, I couldn't put it down. it is such a great adventure book and while reading it, i was able to picture everything pretty vividly. The only thing that I didn't like about the book was that, to me it ended so fast. I didn't want it to end! it was like i was a part of the book and going through everything that Harry was going through. I would always picture myself in Hogwarts and being apart of the adventure. J.K Rowling did such an amazing job creating the Harry Potter Series, and would highly recemmend the serires to any one who would enjoy a magical adventure.

The benefits of failure

     
Failure is something that every one experiences in life. its a natural occurrence and is something that we can not avoid. i personally have experienced failure in my life. when i think about failure i always think about my high school years. i had failed classes and was almost not going to be able to graduate with my class. i was able to retake the classes and pass with extra credits. since then i always look back and try to better myself so that i dont go trough that again. i see failure as a good and bad thing. how can you learn if you havent made any mistakes?

Sherman Alexie Novel

Humor, Motivation, risk, bullying, love. these 5 words are significant in Sherman Alexies novel of the absolutely true diary of a part time Indian. Throughout the novel Alexie uses a lot of humor. i see his humor and see that he is trying to cover up pain. he was bullied a lot throughout his life from people of all size and age. he never got a break until he got motivated to change schools. changing school was a giant risk for him since he was changing to an all white school. but since he changed schools he was able to fidn love, not only from his girlfriend Penelope, but from the whole school.

Novel

when I found out about what we were going to be reading in my english class, I didn't think much of  it. i just thought it was going to ba another boring book that we had to read. but i was actually wrong. this book, The absolutely true diary of a part time indian by Sherman Alexie, was actually entertaining to read. Reading the novel, i couldn't help but feel what the main character, Junior, was feeling. you can feel his sadness, humility, love, and joy throughout the book. this novel also contains a lot of imagery, and i was able to picture everything. I enjoyed reading this novel.

what are they actually tryng to sell you?

I found a very intersesting advertisement the other day while I was surfing the internet. it actually made me laugh a little because of the dog having a butt for a face. Even though in the picture they are selling the dental dog snacks, I couldnt help but notice that it wasnt the only thing being sold. why would the picture have furniture with such a loud pattern? could it be that they are trying to sell the furniture as well? also, the first time I saw the picture it grabbed my attention, and it was from the furniture.
